Project Completed On 3/31/2004

This is a project that is for my wife, as a 10th anniversary present. Actually, due to the size and cost of the project, it is going to cover all gifts for this year, from Christmas 2003 through Thanksgiving 2004 (including Valentine's day, her birthday, Mother's day, groundhog's day, etc.) The plans came from an issue of Wood magazine. I modified the design slightly, most notably in the fact that the plans called out for mahogany, and I used oak. Also, the plans called for 3/4" stock, and the last load of lumber I bought turned out to be 7/8", so I had to adjust the plans accordingly.

Because of the size of this project, I decided to break up the construction details into smaller sections. You can read more about each step by following the links at the bottom of the pages.

And here are the final results (sorry the pictures turned out a tad dark):

Continue on to see the construction of the side assemblies and the back.
