Life on the frozen tundra of South Dakota Life on the frozen tundra of South Dakota

So some friends of mine had this little coffee house thing going. They had two acoustic guitars and a singer. They played some shows and were having a pretty good time. They called themselves "Nameless Tribe" although I really don't know where that came from. After a while though, they decided they wanted more.

At which point they recruited my brother and I to join the band. My brother is a drummer, and they wanted me to play bass. Most of the time I am a guitarist. However, I love playing bass too so I immediately said "yes."

I showed up for the first practice and pulled out my 5 string fretless bass. The other guys in the band got a worried look on their faces when they saw no frets, but thankfully I had done some practicing ahead of time and had gotten fairly decent at playing without them. I wound up playing fretless the entire time I was with that band.

My first concert with them was on April 15, 2013. Our ultimate vision was to transition to all original music. So this song was the first original one we put together: "Not How It's Supposed To Go"

Of course there was still a catalog of cover tunes that existed before I joined the band, so we did some of those as well. Here is a cover of "I'm Alive" by Matthew West.
